Wednesday Word: Christmas

With Christmas just a couple days away, the KHYI staff would like to share their favorite Christmas memory:
Chuck Taylor – My favorite Christmas memory is the Christmas of 2004. I was doing mornings in Corpus Christi, my daughter had just turned 2 in Sept, and we were hosting the family for Christmas for the first time. Everyone arrived on Christmas Eve expecting a warm South Texas Christmas, but it snowed that night! And of course, when we got up Christmas morning…there were reindeer and sleigh tracks all over the yard…not to mention the most epic snowball fight that a two year old ever experienced! It’s a Christmas I will remember for the rest of my life! Merry Christmas from my family to yours!
Brett Dillon – I have a couple fond memories growing up of Christmas. On Christmas Eve in the ’60s we would do fondue of all things! Early on my mom would always do the cooking but I remember eventually my dad took over. One of the strongest memories I have is that I hated his stuffing! He put apples in it and that’s just weird. I did love what my mom would make though…Ambrosia Salad. Delicious!
Allan Peck – By far, my favorite memory from Christmas past goes back to when my brother and myself were under 7 years old. The Peck family was very middle class, We were not wealthy, however, we did not want for food or clothes. Christmas time did put pressure on Dad & Mom’s ability to provide though. We talked about an electric train for months & months. Dad & Mom talked about a new console radio-record player. That Christmas, Santa really came through! A Lionel electric train, with smoke, and a new Philco radio with a record changer! We had a Christmas we will never forget. And yes, Mom baked a birthday cake for baby Jesus. A Very Merry Christmas!
Big Gus Samuelson – My favorite Christmas memories will always be about fishing with my brother first thing Christmas morning at Lake Fork, regardless of the weather, circumstances, or conditions. We never missed a Christmas morning fishing until his passing.
Brian Curry – From being a kid to being an adult, all of my Christmas memories have been good. Being a Dallas native and living here all my life, it’s rare to see snow anytime of the year… But especially on Christmas. I remember Christmas Day 2012 we had snow falling during the day and it accumulated a couple of inches. I thought that was so cool. The one day all year it snows and it happens to be on Christmas Day. Sorta like a little Christmas miracle. It was beautiful and added to the already fun day the family and I were having visiting with other family members and having Christmas dinner. We even took the dogs for a walk in the snow. Christmas Day 2012, one of the top memorable ones because of the rare white Christmas in Dallas.
We all hope that you can make amazing Christmas memories this year with your family as well. Merry Christmas!
