Another artist in this week’s Shiner Rising Star competition is Hard Country.
Murphy, Texas based Hard Country began its journey in the summer of 2004 by founding members Bryan and John Joyner. Influenced early in life by many different forms of Country and Rock, the Joyner brothers became inspired to play their own brand of Country music by Texas Country and Red Dirt artists they were following at the time. From humble beginnings, the band has evolved into the current line-up of Bryan Joyner (lead vocals and guitar), Greg Deans (harmony vocals and guitar), Eric Tamblyn (harmony vocals and bass) and John Joyner (drums).
Their original music is rock tinged country music with a resemblance to Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Reckless Kelly and Randy Rogers Band. Hard Country combines a solid rock and blues beat with a fresh blend of vocal harmonies and acoustic and electric guitar. Many of their songs are written based on struggles brothers Bryan and John encountered with relationships and life events that resonate with many.
