Wednesday Word: Allan Peck

Written by on May 20, 2015

Here’s a quick word from Allan Peck on who he’s listening to right now!

1. Who is your favorite artist RIGHT NOW?
Given the events of last Friday…………B.B.King will occupy a major part of my music listening again for some time.
2. How did you discover them?
He was the major inspiration for more performers than possibly any other guitar player.

3. What tracks would you recommend (or album)?
“The Thrill Is Gone” now has even more impact than it did when it was on the charts decades ago.  B.B. even gave a budding song writer [Gary Nicholson] from South Garland High School a shot at success when he chose his song [Waiting For The Light to Change] to do with Randy Travis.  God given talent.

4. Have you seen them live yet (or have plans to soon)?
I did, 1966 in Cincinnati! I was also able to do a show with him, Sonny James, Waylon Jennings, Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton (who was only 18 at the time)!
