“The LDJ Band was formed in early 2013.  It all started with Larry Sumpter and Dan Schwein playing in the church worship band. They quickly realized they not only shared a passion to play for Christ but also country music….especially the classics, Texas/Red Dirt, and of course George Strait!  In the beginning, everyone just called them The Larry and Dan Band.  Eventually, they were able to convince their metal head buddy Jacob Garrett to come over to the country side and at that point they became The LDJ Band.  After playing a short stint of coffee shops and restaurants it was apparent they had found something special and began to grow the band.  In their short time playing together as a band they developed a unique sound and style.  I think Brett Dillon (KHYI 95.3 The Range) said it best when he labeled them “Hillbilly Funk”.  Though they still love to play the classic country, Texas/Red Dirt, and Southern Rock songs at every show their true passion is performing their originals every chance they get.  They have already written over a dozen songs and continue to add more.  They have recently added  bluegrass veterans George Merritt on fiddle/banjo and Martin Sargent on standup bass.  They not only add amazing talent but also a sound/style that has gained the LDJ Band increased popularity.  They have a mission to write and create fun music people can relate to while also playing the songs they grew up loving.  If you like redneck, foot stompin’, traditional country music with a touch of Southern Rock then we are your band!”
