“Darrell Goldman releases his first full-length album titled The Bed I’ve Made which is a heartfelt project he wrote and produced himself. Darrell’s not just some starry-eyed kid hoping to make it in the music biz.  Instead, he’s a seasoned, serious performer with a passion for songwriting and touching people’s lives with music, “that magical something” he says, “that has a way of bringing people together like nothing else in the world. That’s what I love.”

Darrell grew up in Houston where he went to Katy-Taylor High School.  He then attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, one of his favorite cities, next to Austin, Tx that is, which he calls home. Along the path, Darrell married and has three children, two boys and one girl.  A dachshund named Harley rounds out the family. Not content with his first degree and winning songwriting awards from Berklee, Darrell says he wanted to explore more in life.  He then attended Dallas Theological Seminary where he obtained his Master’s degree and graduated with honors while also working as a Worship Leader at churches in Austin, Tyler and Grapevine and continuing to perform regularly in other Texas venues and festivals

That sounds like a pretty full life, but after seminary Darrell realized he wanted his love for Country music and people, his faith, and his passion for songwriting to direct the next phase of his life. With that, he returned to Austin where he has continued performing around Texas as a Country artist. In November 2014, Darrell was chosen as a finalist in the Texas Songwriter U competition.  Songs selected out of that experience are featured on his new album:  “Tears and Loneliness,” “Gypsy Rose,” and “In This Together.

When asked how he would describe his music, Darrell says, “Others have called it “polished”. I would say thoughtful.”  And, of course, Country. Thoughtful fits his whole approach to life and music: “It’s taken time to figure out who I want to be as an artist.  I’ve written for a long time and tried many styles.  Country is where my heart is.” Asked what his autobiography would be entitled Darrell pauses to reflect, “Endurance,” he says, “because my life has definitely been an endurance race, not a sprint.”  With nearly 200 shows a year, marriage and kids, “It takes a lot to keep it together,” he says, “like constant training for a triathlon.” And Darrell knows what he’s talking about because he has participated in many triathlons, which takes dedication, focus, and endurance, all character traits essential for a singer songwriter, too. He also loves the water. “We’re lake people,” Darrell says, and when time allows, he and the family love jet skiing, wakeboarding or wake surfing on Lake Austin. As a child, Darrell’s favorite food was lobster and seafood, so he started out not being typical and has maintained that path throughout his life. Darrell’s full life and complex thinking are reflected in many of his songs.  The polished Country he mentions is clear on “Lookin’ for Love,” a song that has a swing feel with a classic structure.  His appreciation of faith and family are clear in “Hold On My Heart” and “In This Together.”
